Change 2

For this second change, I've decided to no longer do the sound effect because I found it totally unnecessary after editing and viewing the video. I also found that it would take too much time for me to make a sound effect, since the only sounds that I can use for this project are either "copyright free" or self-made. I had originally intended on making my own sound, but as I said, it was too time consuming for me and I find it unnecessary for this video.

Key Moment 2

Hey guys!!!!

For this secondary moment, I've decided to make another change. I have decided to no longer do the sound effect through Garage Band. I have decided to no longer put any sound effect into this video. I'll tell you why. Just go to the Change 2 page.

Thanks for tuning in.

Editing

Hey everybody!
I have come to the conclusion that I don't need any more footage to start editing this video. I am doing a voice recording with the Voice Memos app on my iPhone. The goal of this voice recording is to advance the story without ruining the plot. I will be inserting it into the video through iMovie on my laptop. I will edit the entire video through iMovie. I don't think there will be any special effects involved since I don't think that they will be necessary. The only thing that I will need to add using iMovie is the credits at the beginning of the video to introduce the people to give credit to for the film.

Key Moment 1

Hey Guys!!!

For the first key moment of this project, I have decided to include a moment when my whole perspective of the beginning of the video just changed. It changed completely. I decided to change the beginning of my video completely. More details  to come in the Change 1 page.

Thanks for tuning in!!!

Change 1

Hey guys!!!
The first key moment involves talks about this change that I have decided to make for this video. The first thing I want to say is that I have decided to no longer use the freeze frame and voice over that was meant to introduce the characters because I have found it a very difficult task to include my voice over and to freeze the frame for the character introduction. Another reason why I have decided to not do this anymore is because I will now be introducing my cast with the part that they are portraying before the video begins.

Thanks for tuning in and I hope you can understand why I had to make this change.

Filming Day

Hey guys!

As you can see, this post is titled "Filming Day." Yesterday, I gathered two of my friends and filmed them for this two-minute film opening. It was better than I thought it would be. We all laughed a lot and I got enough footage to now start editing it, thank goodness that one day was enough. It was a fun day and I'm so excited to start editing. It did not take us too much time and I don't think that another filming session is necessary. I've got to say though that the acting of this won't be Academy Award worthy, in my opinion, so I hope that you guys don't expect too much considering that we are just students in high school. That will be the only hint that I'm going to give.

Okay, I write this because I want to share two upcoming sections for this blog: "Key Moments" and "Changes"

Changes will be about changes that are implemented to the project. I am planning on making three posts on this subject.

Post Addressing Archetypes

Hey!!!

I have ideas on the archetypes for my characters. Here it goes:

Protagonist #1: Teenage male, likes sports, is American of Hispanic background. Main sport he likes is basketball. He lives playing basketball and watching professionals, he basically studies them. He reflects his inspiration by acting like a basketball player and his fashion trend reflects one of a basketball player. He is friends with Protagonist #2

Protagonist #2: Also an American teenage male of Hispanic background. Doesn't know basketball as well as protagonist #1, but does like it very much. Is friends with Protagonist #1

Shooting Schedule

Good Afternoon everybody!!

Good news; I have decided on making this film be shot on only one day, considering the amount of time that I have left for this video. I should be able to get it done on school campus on a school day. Unfortunately, it has to be during an A day. I just like B days better than A days. The day that I have agreed to shoot this is Tuesday, March 21st, since it is the only A day that is not an early release day next week.

Thanks for reading and, once again, stay tuned for more.

Storyboarding

Hey guys,
Sorry it has been a while since I last posted. Anyways, I wanted to share with you what exactly it is that I am going to do when it comes to storyboarding. My Film teacher has shown me a website that he uses for storyboarding called Sway. It many features but he showed me this for storyboarding specifically. I have already started to sort of storyboard my ideas onto my Sway page. I'll leave a link to the page below.

Still Kicking Off

Hey guys!

Just checking in once again. I have had plenty of things to think about. Things are and have been proven to be easier thought of than done. I have thought of a plot and have finally picked a genre. It is going to be a teen sports comedy. At least that's out of the way. The sports comedy inspiration was Peter Segal's "The Longest Yard," starring Adam Sandler and Chris Rock. I chose this also because I am targeting teenagers since they are the people that are most related to myself since we pertain to the teenage world.

That will be all for this week. Catch you guys next week

The Beginning

Hey Guys!
As you can see, I have titled this post "The Beginning." This is where the fun begins. We (Mike, Jorge, and I) have decided on more or less what our characters for this film will be like and how many characters there are going to be. We don't have a big crew of people, so we have limited to a maximum of two characters. What will they be like? They will be very much like the people who are portraying them (physically and mentally). They will possess the same characteristics as our actors. We are trying to make these characters very good friends, that is for certain. This idea of the characters being friends was inspired upon me by Denis Duggan's "Grown Ups" where the main characters have been very close friends since they were kids and still have this brotherhood as grown ups.

Introduction

Welcome!
I just wanted to say that I am very excited for these next few weeks where you guys can join me on a journey to my first originally produced 2-minute film opening. I am making this opening with two of my friends, Mike Moreno and Jorge Polonia. They are not currently taking AICE Media Studies with me but I know I can count on them to make this work. A genre for this film has not been chosen, but I know that I will for certain not be working with mystery, suspense, or horror. I can't wait for this film to be finalized, but not because I don't want to do this, but instead, so that I can show it to you guys. I made the choice of making this film all on my own. My main inspiration for the beginning of this film opening is Danny Boyle's "Trainspotting" opening scene, where the camera is paused and the characters are introduced. I'll leave you a clip of the opening scene of "Trainspotting," so that you guys can see what it is exactly that I'm talking about.
